How to Enter

Digital images will be accepted from photographers living in North America through the web portal www.callforentry.org until January 21, 2012 (closing time January 20, 2012 at midnight MST).  Photographers may enter either the cell phone image project or the camera-based project, but not both.  Entry fees of $10 for each cell phone image (up to 3 cell phone images in total), or $35 for the first camera image and $10 for each additional image (up to 4 camera images in total) must be paid through the web portal using credit cards.  When submitting cell phone entries it is essential that the coupon code “CELL” be inserted into the coupon box on the checkout page. For the camera-based project, a discount will be offered for “early birds” who submit by November 30, 2011.  The code to use is “EB4”. For those not familiar with the web portal, please allow ample time to navigate this site, register with callforentry.org, and upload images.

The primary categories for submission are:

  1. The natural environment
    1. Water
    2. Mountains
    3. Deserts
  2. Human impact on the environment
    1. Consumption
    2. Destruction
    3. Restoration
  3. Additional themes include
    1. Natural environmental disasters
    2. Energy production and use
    3. Global warming
    4. The human figure in the environment
    5. Transportation

What to submit:  To assure uniformity for the purposes of judging all digital images will be sized to 1920 x 1920 pixels and 1.8 MB.  Those selected to display their photos will submit a print at their own expense that will fit into frames measuring 20 x 30, 24 x 30, or 24 x 36 using a mat of approximately 3 - 5" on a side.  ETAL will provide standard sized acid-free mats and frames at no charge to the photographers.  Photographers wishing to use non-standard frames will be required to pay for framing.  We will also request a high resolution digital image to be used in the show catalog and on the Photo Gallery page of our website.  We will place a watermark on images to insure that they cannot be copied.  Those entering the cell phone project will have their images projected during our Earth Day award ceremony.  We will endeavor to produce a composite poster of meritorious cell phone images.

Disposition of prints: Camera photographers are welcome to offer their photographs for sale, donate their work to ETAL to obtain a tax write-off equal to the value that we are able to realize from auction, or have their work returned by mail.  A sale list will be prepared that should include a 25% commission to ETAL.
